How to Reconnect an IQ Brain to an Android Tablet - VEXcode IQ Blocks

When you suspend VEXcode IQ Blocks by either putting the tablet to sleep or by switching to a different application on the tablet, the app will lose connection to the VEX IQ Brain. When you resume the app by waking the tablet or switching back to the VEXcode IQ Blocks app, the app should automatically try to reconnect.

If the Android tablet does not automatically reconnect within 20-30 seconds to the VEX IQ Brain, one of these situations arises:

  • The VEXcode IQ Blocks screen is blank
  • The VEX IQ Brain thinks it is connected, but VEXcode IQ Blocks does not connect

The VEXcode IQ Blocks screen is blank

  • Try force closing VEXcode IQ Blocks and reopening VEXcode IQ Blocks.
  • Then relaunch VEXcode IQ Blocks.

The VEX IQ Brain thinks it is connected, but VEXcode IQ Blocks does not connect

If VEXcode IQ Blocks was closed or suspended for less than 10 seconds, the VEX IQ Brain could think it is still connected and the data connection status indicator on the VEX IQ Brain will indicate a connection.

In this scenario you will need to first wait for the VEX IQ Brain to realize it is no longer connected to the tablet, which may take 10-15 seconds.

Depending on your IQ Brain, reconnecting can take up to 3 minutes. If the brain does not establish a connection after 3 minutes, power cycle the brain and try again.

If none of these steps cause the VEX IQ Brain to reconnect, try the following steps:

  1. Try force closing VEXcode IQ Blocks and reopening VEXcode IQ Blocks.
  2. Close any and all other apps running before restarting the VEXcode IQ Blocks app.
  3. Restart the VEXcode IQ Blocks app to see if the connection is now successful.
